ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Zorra Township has a few spots to fill on the Zorra Community Policing Committee.
The mandate of the committee is to advise all aspects of the provision of police related matters in Zorra and to promote and maintain communication with the public. CAO for the Township Don MacLeod tells Heart FM about some of the responsibilities of the committee.
"They are trying to be proactive in crime prevention, assist in diverting problems with the OPP and other communications; it is really just a communication between police and the community. What they would do if we receive complaints through council it would filter back to the committee, if there are concerns over speeding in certain areas or if there has been a rash of break ins or break and enters or if there is any kind of vandalism going on the committee would work the OPP to try and address that issue and take any proactive steps they can take."
Right now they have five vacant spots on the committee that meets four times ever year. You can contact the Township office if you are interested by calling 519-485-2490.
