Six roller derby teams will be battling it out at the Oxford Auditorium, in the first ever SODA Cup.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock's Roller Derby Misfits are getting ready to host the first ever Southwestern Ontario Derby Alliance Championship.
President Dianna Vervaecke says they will welcome six different teams to the Oxford Auditorium this Saturday.
"We are so fortunate here in Woodstock that we have the support of the Woodstock Agricultural Society and the Oxford Auditorium. Originally the auditorium was a roller rink so it has a fantastic floor for us to skate on. Most of the other leagues don't have a space to hold the cup so we offered up our auditorium."
Saturday's triple header action will get underway at 3 p.m. with the Queens Misfits facing the Border City Brawlers Roller Derby Windsor A'Salt.
Vervaecke says the Roller Derby Misfits will face the Forest City Roller Derby Thames Fatales in the bronze medal game at 5 p.m.
"We've taken a few beatings this year and it has really improved our game. We're excited to take those lessons, new strategies and implement them to see how well we do."
The Royal City Roller Derby Killer Queens will battle it out against Violet Uprising for the S.O.D.A Cup at 7 p.m.
The doors will open at 2:30 p.m. and admission is free. It's considered a family friendly event.
