WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council has heard a delegation from a resident who is very concerned about how complaints are handled on the municipal level.
Tim Gibney has been living in the Friendly City for 25 years. He has not been very happy with how neighbour disputes have been handled lately.
"There have been so many situations where neighbours who try to get improvements done in the area regarding a bad neighbour were ignored!"
He provided a couple examples these situations, most of which focused on calls to city departments that reportedly didn't follow through.
In one case Gibney said a resident called the city to report their neighbour had garbage all over their yard for multiple days, but nothing was done about it.
In another situation Gibney said someone filed a complaint regarding a pile a wood next to their neighbour's home. The situation was addressed two months later, but once the wood started piling up again Gibney claimed the city brushed off the new complaints being made.
Gibney believes the city should work to keep Woodstock beautiful year round, not just during the City Beautiful Awards season.
He says he wanted bring his concerns to council's attention, with the next election only one year away.
"I've done my homework for over five years and the majority of council who I have approached have totally ignored the issues. Small issues that the city doesn't solve become large problems."
Council received Gibney's delegation as information.
