A Tillsonburg woman is hoping to bring more industrial business to the community; if she is elected as a town councillor.
TILLSONBURG - A born and raised Tillsonburg woman is running for a seat on town council.
Deb Gilvesy grew up on the outskirts of town, before she moved inside Tillsonburg's borders six and a half years ago with her husband.
If she is elected this fall, she would like to bring more industrial businesses to the area. Gilvesy would also like to help prepare for the future.
"We need to ensure that we have a workforce in place. Tillsonburg currently doesn't have any post secondary education so that is another area that we need to work on."
Another item on her to-do list if revitalizing Simcoe Street; adding it's a gateway into the town.
Gilvesy is a goal oriented person who wants to make sure things get done in council chambers.
"I want to be a driving force on council that when we identify and recognize what things need to be worked on, that we follow through and see that they're finished."
Gilvesy is currently the Vice Chairman of the Tillsonburg Economic Development Committee. In the past, she has been a Director and a Vice Chairman of the Ontario Flue-Cured Tobacco Growers' Marketing Board.
Gilvesy also used to operate Lux Salon and Spa on McKenzie Street, before she sold the business this past June.
