A four day, non-jury trial date was set Friday for a former Woodstock businessman facing a number fraud charges. 54 year-old Eugenio Gaudio will be back in an Oxford County courtroom September 9 to face a total of 13 charges including fraud, theft and uttering forged documents. In June 2011, a warrant was issued for Gaudio, a used car salesman who was allegedly defrauding people who purchased vehicles through him. He eventually apprehended November 28, 2012 during a routine traffic stop near Montreal. Gaudio was released on bail in Woodstock on February 1st, but remains in custody in London for theft charges he faces there. Police issued the warrant for Gaudio's arrest when it was discovered he was defrauding customers by allegedly selling them used cars and charging monthly fees. Shortly after their purchase, the costumer would experience issues with the car or Gaudio would take the vehicle back saying he sold it. In most of the cases, the customers would never receive a replacement vehicle as promised and refunds were not provided. Police say the suspect had ties with Montreal and London.
