The calls included three fires, two improperly discarded cigarettes, and two cases of unauthorized open air burning.
WOODSTOCK - It was a busy couple of days for the Woodstock Fire Department (WFD).
Local firefighters responded to seven separate fire-related incidents over a two day span.
Looking at the breakdown; one was for a house fire, one was for a vehicle fire, and one was for a fire that was caused by a lithium ion battery. The WFD also took care of a cigarette that was discarded in recycling materials, a cigarette that was discarded in mulch, and two incidents related to unauthorized open air burning.
Officials say a lot of these calls were preventable.
The WFD is reminding everyone to follow open air burning rules, dispose of cigarettes properly, and be careful while charging, storing, and disposing of lithium ion batteries. You should also keep combustible materials away from heat sources, vehicles, and structures, and make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are in working order.
